New Characters

Now we come to the most exciting and fantastical part of this project; dreaming up new characters for this update. I will be designing 5 Capcom and 5 Marvel characters for a total of 10 new characters. The particular ones I choose are largely based on just what I'd think is cool, though I'm trying to have a diverse array of mechanics and character archetypes, as well as bringing new things into the game's systems. Each character's specifics will be listed on their own individual page. At least 1 or 2, but no more, of the Marvel-side characters will be returning vets from MvC2. The rest will be characters who have never been playable in a VS game before.

Capcom

Rashid (Street Fighter V)

Summary: A speedy rushdown character who's quite mobile. His most distinguishing trait is that whenever he touches through any of his whirlwind projectiles, his forward travel distance is increased dramatically as long as he's in contact with it. C. Viper was often considered "an MvC character in Street Fighter 4", so her inclusion in MvC3 made perfect sense. It is only fitting for Rashid, the most "Marvel-like" Street Fighter 5 character, to be included (and I've always been shocked that he wasn't included in Marvel vs Capcom: Infinite).

Nero (Devil May Cry 5)

Summary: A well-rounded character with a variety of tools. His most distinguishing trait is his swappable tech arms, allowing him to access an armored command airdash, a command grab, a sphere that inflicts the Slow status, and a speedy wallbounce. Vanilla MvC3 was Dante's first appearance in a VS game, and Ultimate added Vergil, so why not complete the trifecta? DMC5 significantly fleshed out his abilities, and he'd make quite an interesting addition to this game's systems, in my opinion.

Nina (Breath of Fire 2)

Summary: A runaway zoner with a 1-way airdash, but it only goes backwards. Her most distinguishing trait is that she's a zoner based around flight; she's able to fly and unfly cancel her specials, like Morrigan, but hers go in a wide variety of strange arcs, with unusual properties. Her unfly will not be only 1 frame like Morrigan's, though it will still overall improve her recovery on specials. Breath of Fire has never had a playable representative in a VS game (not even an Assist in MvC1), and I think Nina would be the most interesting (I'm quite a fan of Dormammu and Dr. Strange's magically-inspired zoning tools).

Hauzer (Red Earth/Warzard)

Summary: The biggest body yet added to a VS game except for possibly the giants in Tatsunoko vs. Capcom. Incredibly slow, loaded with armored moves, including, notably, armored projectile attacks (though they do not reach full-screen); that is to say, Hauzer himself is armored as he starts up shooting the projectiles. Red Earth/Warzard is one of only 3 proper unique games on the CPS-3 (not counting different iterations of other games), and its only other acknowledgement since its release has been Tessa's (admittedly pretty neat) inclusion in infamous kusoge SNK vs. Capcom: SVC Chaos.

Marvel

Nightcrawler

Summary: Nightcrawler is one of the most famous X-Men with clear potential for a VS game to have absolutely no respresentation in one yet, so he's a logical fit for a brand-new Marvel-side character. Besides having teleports, he's also quite acrobatic; he'll be MvC3's first character with absolutely no projectiles, no armor, but also no divekick, no airdashes or flight, but multiple unique teleports. The wildest idea I'm playing with is him having the ability to do a teleport that brings his assist with him.
